Abstract:

Through analyzing the traffic safety situation and accident causes on the town roads in developing countries, this Paper brings forward the urgency, validity and suitability of the method based on traffic conflict technique for road safety evaluation .The research proposes the idea that how to apply this technology to planning, designing and building of town roads. In order to meet the demand of transforming safety situation in the short-term at the small area on town road, the Paper sets up a new program which is different from traditional accident statistics and evaluates traffic safety situation with multi-stylebook rapidly and quantitatively, and moreover, puts forward some measurements which are based on conflict studies to improve traffic safety with very limited budget. At last a case of an intersection transforming is used to illustrate the adopted method. The Paper is going to provide a kind of feasible safety evaluation method for preventing traffic accidents of the town roads in developing countries.

Biographie:

Wei cheng, Doctor of Jilin University, major in traffic information and control, take part in two provincial research subjects, and publish more than 20 articles in academic journal and compile the book "traffic engineering" which win the Jilin University outstanding teaching awards. From June 2004 teach in faulty of Traffic engineering, Kunming University of science and technology. and act as deputy director of traffic engineering, take charge six scientific research program . now I am assessment team leader of the Yunnan Province "urban traffic project", the middle-aged academic and technology leaders of reserve personnel in Yunnan province, china.
