Fuzzy Petri net Algorithm for Flexible Manufacturing Systems

Abstract:

Automated material flow is an important aspect in Flexible Manufacturing system. This is usually achieved by adjusting the speed of the conveyors involved in transportation of materials. The approach in such cases is progressively in steps of modeling the system, design of a controller and then implementation using a Programmable Logic controller [2]. The approach normally signifies the combination of control theory and artificial intelligence, although both have not been optimally combined for the purpose. This paper reviews the difficulties in evolution of such an approach to a Discrete Event System through an example and suggests a solution.
