Abstract:

An integrated solution, based on fieldbus, for industrial measurements and control is presented. Main benefits of fieldbus solutions, like hardware cabling and installation costs reduction, interoperability and improved performance are highlighted, when compared with the traditional 4-20 mA systems. The ultimate purpose of this paper is to display the ability and efficiency of the Foundation Fieldbus technology in the planning,  installation, operation, maintenance and renovation  phases of the process automation projects in the framework of designing, implementing and execution on an Instructional Pilot Plant. In this paper, it will be demonstrated that how by taking advantage of the products of the Smar company under the names of System302 Enterprise Edition, Series302 Fieldbus Instruments, DFI302 Universal Bridge, DF65 Coprocessor and applying them on an Instructional Pilot Plant, the above purposes can be realized.
