ICENCO 2004 Request Rough Sets Issue (hard and soft Copy)!
This special issue of Fuzzy/Rough Sets and Application contains selection of papers presented initially at ICENCO 2004 Conference (the 1st International Computer Engineering Conference: New Technologies for the Information Society, Cairo, Egypt. It follows the ICENCO 2004, special session on the same topic organized by the editor of this issue. ICENCO'2004 Conference was scheduled for December 27-30, 2004. Papers included in the special issue are devoted to various aspects of rough set theory and fuzzy set theory addressing the principal topics in those areas of research from theoretical as well as application point of view. The article by Suraj deals with the problem of data model of concurrent systems from a given information system. It allows to understand better the structure and the behavior of the modeled system. The presented concurrent model of a decision algorithm allows a comprehensive analysis of approximate reasoning process described by the given decision table, among others, a very quick identification of objects in the given decision table. It allows also to analyze the performance of approximate reasoning process. Using the time approximate nets to answer such questions as, how much time we need to make a decision, or which execution path in the approximate reasoning process should be chosen in order to make a decision as quick as it is possible. Suraj discusses two self-implemented computer tools used for the verification of proposed methods and algorithms. The article by Marek Kurzynski, deals with the problem of pattern recognition via imprecisely formulated expert rules (knowledge representation). Adopting the probabilistic model with different interpretation of rule weight are discussed and the consistency conditions of set of rules are given. The article by Deyong Deng, deals with a new way to calculate rough inclusions based on dependency of attributes in information systems. The article by Chandan Buunia and P. Nandi, deals with how a fuzzy logic based Kalman filter performs well in correlated noise corrupted measurement. In addition, the performance of the Fuzzy adaptive Kalman filter is studied in the domain of INS parameters estimation. The article by Shaidah Jusoh, demonstrated a new technique to create an intelligent processor for a human robot interface that can be used to better resolve ambiguity problems in natural language sentences. The article by Vadim Borisov and Alexander Fedulo, deals with the inference method for qualitative models of multipurpose systems, which realizes flexible mechanism of concordance of many fuzzy problems Also, the rules structure is discussed. The introduced method can be used in multi purpose decision making. The article by Wudhnichai deals with the problem of designing a robust fuzzy filter for a class of uncertain non linear descriptor system described by A Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model. A numerical example is provided to illustrate the design developed system. The article by Hakim deals with the problem of the context information system. A multi context from a given information system are discussed. Rough set is used to approximate for each context of multi-contexts and then give decision for each context. Finally, it should be stated here that the Editor are immensely grateful to the authors of these papers for their patience and their perseverance in helping to achieve the high standards of these papers.
