Abstract
This paper presents a new robotic
system for face detection and recognition. Our approach
focuses on the application of human robot interaction,
where people may be further away from the camera and
move freely around in the room. Our robotic system has
two cameras: one with a wide range, which is used for
face detection and tracking and the other one with a
narrow range used to extract the face parameters. The
face recognition is implemented using neural networks,
which are trained to distinct if the person is part of
the database or not. The effectiveness of the proposed
model is validated experimentally using a robotic
system.
