Segmentation Of MRI Using New Unsupervised Fuzzy C Mean Algorithm

Abstract :

This work presents clustering techniques for Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) with recent programming language [R]. It presents many results using Fuzzy C-Mean (FCM) and silhoutte value. The results from FCM obtained by Anja Struyf. et. al., and silhouette method by Peter J. Rousseeuw. Mainly this paper develops a new effective Clustering Algorithm method to explore easily the MRI using FCM, silhouette method, and programming language [R] . The new clustering algorithmemploys to tissue segmentation, to differentiate CSF from white and grey matter, to track the brain tumor. for the new effective clustering algorithm, this work describes clustering programs, programs for converting image to data set in programming language [R], and also it incorporates the programs. The clustering program with FCM were designed to be robust and accept dissimilarity data as objects. To compare the images the clustering programming and image programming provide visual display. The important sides of program in [R], a new task introduces that the image converts into data matrices, FCM program analyze the data of image, and then the samples of data matrices have been separated according to the cluster after using clusting algorithm.

Biography:

S R Kannan is an Indian, he was born in India on June 12, 1974 as son of Mrs. R. Pitchiammal & Mr. S. Rammohan, at present he is a Visiting Scientist cum Post-Doctoral Fellow in DISI, University of Genova under the financial support of ICTP Trieste. In 2002 Kannan was appointed regular faculty of Mathematics Department at Gandhigram Rural University, India. He had received his Master Degree (Mathematics) in 1997 in Madurai Kamaraj University. He holds his Doctorate Degree (Ph.D) in Indian Institute Of Technology Madras, India. In 1997 Kannan qualified in Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE1997), he had been received Junior/Senior Research fellowship through GATE during his Ph.D(1998- 2001) work. In 2000, he has received the "Best Poster Presentation Award" and "Cash Award" of 88 th Indian Science Congress Association. In 2003 he has been awarded a grant in the frame work of Joint agreement between Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Italy) and the ICTP (Italy), for his Post Doctoral Research work at Italy. His research interests is focused on "Applications in Fuzzy Sets" and "Fuzzy Clustering Analysis". His research works have been published in many scientific Journals and Conference proceedings, also he serves as a reviewer for scientific articles in many international journals and scientific conferences and he was a chair for special session of the HIS02 (02,December 01-04, Santiago, Chile) and a session organizer of ISDA03 (10-13, August 2003, Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA).
