Abstract:
Shape is one of the most important property that is perceived about objects. It allows predicting more facts about an object when compared with other features. Thus recognizing shape is crucial for object recognition. This paper proposes an optimal morphological shape decomposition scheme that represents the object accurately and efficiently. The high level of redundancy in representation is the main problem of existing morphological shape representation methods, which is overcome by the proposed method. The overlapping among shape components of same and different sizes is completely eliminated by this method and the resultant representation can be used for shape related processing.
