Abstract:

In this world of high speed manufacturing industry, the field of testing and measurements using internet and machine vision plays a major role in producing good quality products. The term Machine Vision describes the work that provides a practical and affordable visual sense for any type of machine that works in real-time and is concerned with utilizing existing technology in the most effective way to endow a degree of autonomy in specific application. Since many of the instruments are provided with communication interfaces, one can build a remote testing system from the actual hardware and a computing unit with Internet connection capabilities. This work, remote testing of instruments after showing simple clientserver architecture, we came to know how the use of mobile agent technique solve most of the security issues and work efficiently. In this we use the possibilities of high-resolution images capturing device such as CCD camera and interface with the computer such that the real time images of the meter can be acquired. These images are then processed to analyze the position of the needle and in different inputs and with the data that is obtained, we are able to determine the percentage of error and conclude if the meter has passed the required levels of accuracy. The success of the project shows that such automation can be used to reduce the time of inspection and also increases accuracy
