Abstract

Statistical Parametric Map (SPM) is an efficient tool for analyzing functional aspects of complex human brain structure. Realignment is an important phase in pre-processing steps of statistical parametric map. The reference image used for realigning time series of slices will play a vital role for getting accurate statistical parametric maps of functional Magnetic Resonance Image (fMRI) of brain. Irrespective of image size in each slice, statistical inference and significance of results will closely depend on selection of reference image or base image for realigning other images. This article presents micro level error reductions in realignment phase due to the appropriate selection of reference image, which will help the researchers and radiologist to get significant changes at voxel level in the activation regions of brain.
