Title:
Acoustic Signal Analysis for Fault Identification of A Control Valve
Authors:
Sujata S. Agashe and Sagar D. Birkar and Priti P. Rege
Abstract:
Acoustic and vibration analysis are well proven nondestructive techniques for the diagnosis of machine health. Control valves are key to quality plant performance. Hence, their life span is of utmost concern for the operators and personnel. Condition monitoring for control valves has already been widely researched by several authors using the aerodynamic noise prediction method. This paper describes a method to predict the condition of the control valve, using acoustic signal. Acoustic analysis has been performed by evaluating the dBA levels for determining the faults in control valve. Sub-band approach is used for the acoustic signals to analyze the properties such as amplitude, frequency and energy change. A relationship between the acoustic signature with the faults has been established.
