Title:
Neuro-Fuzzy Controller for Nonlinear Semi-Active Macpherson Suspension
Authors:
Manar Abd Elhakim Eltantawie
Abstract:
This paper presents a Neuro-Fuzzy (NF) control system for nonlinear semi-active Macpherson suspension. It consists of a NF controller and NF inverse magnetorheological (MR) damper model. The controller was designed by using adaptive neuro fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) technique based on inverse learning, which tries to minimize the error between desired outputs from nonlinear Macpherson controlled by the linear quadratic regulator (LQR) method and outputs from passive nonlinear Macpherson suspension. Inputs to the controller are from the acceleration of sprung mass and the angular displacement of the control arm. The output is the damping force. To track this force, an inverse MR damper model was created using ANFIS to predict the required voltage. By comparing the performance of the passive, semi-active with LQR and neuro-fuzzy controllers, the results show that the neuro-fuzzy control system can give a better performance in ride comfort.
