Hybrid Cryptographic Algorithm for Robust Network Security

Abstract:
It is widely recognized and accepted that data security will play a crucial and critical role in modern times for businesses will be transacted over the Internet through ecommerce and m-commerce channels. To address these security concerns, various security protocols that are of symmetric-key and asymmetric-key type have been developed. In this paper, we present a software implementation of a hybrid algorithm that combines both the symmetric key algorithm of AES and the asymmetrickey algorithm of Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC). This hybrid algorithm that has been implemented also considers takes care of the integrity of data using MD5 algorithm. The paper also presents future trends of research.
