Title: A NEW METHODOLOGY FOR SWITCHING MULTIUSER DETECTOR FOR DSCDMA SYSTEMS

Abstract: In this paper a switching multiuser detector for CDMA systems is proposed which dynamically switches between NN (Neural Network) tuned SIC (Serial Interference Canceller) and matched filter operations depending upon the channel characteristics. The switching detection process significantly reduces the computational complexity while maintaining the quality of service requirements such as its error rate, throughput and delay constraint. The receiver processes the received matched filter signal and it performs certain estimation on output of the matched filter. The estimates are used to decide whether to perform NNSIC or not. The work was carried out in Synchronous environment with AWGN (Additive White Gaussian Noise) and Rayleigh fading channels. Feed forward network is considered and back propagation technique is employed to evaluate the performance of NNSIC with the existing standard receiver. Comparisons of BER (Bit Error Rate) Vs SNR (Signal-to–Noise Ratio) with the number of users involved, near- far and switching cases with SIR (Signal-to-Interference Ratio) was also considered. The simulated result proves that the derived model has got good performance than the existing and the conventional receivers. The comparison is done through simulations, using Matlab with different channel characteristic, users scenario with neural, neural followed by SIC for analysis and justification.
