Title: Assessment of the Validity of Photodynamic Therapy by Image Analysis and Interpretation

Abstract: Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a new and promising modality in cancer treatment. Many studies have been conducted in the area of photodynamic therapy to improve its applicability. In this work, we tried to assess the validity of PDT in cancer treatment automatically instead of histopathologic assessment. Our proposed method is based on capturing a fluorescence images for the tumor in different stages of treatment, applying some image processing algorithms to the colored image to investigate the necrosis and/or apoptosis of tumor. The obtained results were consistent with those of the histopathologic assessment.
