Title:
Evaluation of Wavelet’s Mother Functions for Speckle Noise Reduction in OCT Images

Abstract:
Five wavelet mother functions have been evaluated for speckle noise reduction in optical coherence tomography (OCT) images. The Haar wavelet was selected as the most suitable mother function for real-time denoising without significantly diminishing either the contrast or spatial resolution. The numerical assessment was done with three special no-reference (NR) metrics: Signal-to-Noise ratio (SNR), Contrast-to-Noise ratio (CNR) and Equivalent Number of Looks (ENL).
